* New BSA Safety Guidelines
The BSA has new guidelines on youth use of tools, working at elevations (eg, on a ladder), and work on excavations.
BSA also has a new Service Project Planning Guidelines checklist for service projects, including Eagle Scout projects.

There is a new Tour Plan Form (more info). We encourage you to begin using it immediately.
The BSA has also announced a new online tour and activity plan, available May 1, 2012.
Requires no signatures and no council office approval step.
Easy to use, and easy to re-use entered info for later tour plans.
If filing a tour plan after April 30th, you must use the new form or file online.

Patch - Heroes of Scouting * Heroes of Scouting - 2012 Patch
The 2012 patch features Dr. Paul Siple who, as a 19 year old Eagle Scout, accompanied Admiral Richard Byrd to Antarctica in 1928.
Patch sales support the operation of the Armstrong Heritage Center scouting museum at BDSR.

* Project SOAR 2012 Soar Patch
The 2012 SOAR Patch features the Golden Eagle, as a tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the first Eagle Scout Award badge in 1912.
It is available at Council Scout Shops.

* Eagle Service Projects
Eagle Scout rank requirement 5 has been reworded, and the BSA has a new Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook to support the change.
Starting January 1st, Eagle Scout candidates must use the new workbook.
