Special Stamp Cancel For BDSR's 50th Anniversary
The U. S. Postal Service, via the Red Feather Lakes Post Office, will provide a special stamp cancellation on envelopes and post cards in recognition of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Ben Delatour Scout Ranch. Those interested in receiving the special cancellation may obtain a cancellation by attending the 50th Anniversary Celebration on June 29th at BDSR. The location for the cancellation station will be the newly opened Scouting Museum at the Armstrong Heritage Center. The time for the cancellation will be between 1:00PM and 3:00PM only.A printed envelope for the anniversary - or cachet - will also be available for sale at the museum. Stamps will also be available for sale, but individuals may bring their own stamps. Those wishing to have the cancellation may chose to actually have their envelopes or cards placed in the mail or they may merely keep them.
The special cancellation will continue through July 25th for designated mailings from BDSR or the Red Feather Lakes Post Office only. After this date, the cancellation hand stamp will be destroyed by the USPS.
This stamp cancellation is the second in a series of what hopefully will be four cancellations between 2007 and 2010. In the 2007 the special cancellation celebrated the 100th Anniversary of World Scouting. The Council Heritage Committee and the Northern Colorado Scouts on Stamps Club are grateful for the warm cooperation of the Postmaster at the Red Feather Lakes Post Office.
