New Longs Peak Council Camping/Operations Director:
Billy Riley, a 26 year experienced BSA professional, has agreed to serve as our new Camping/Operations Director, effective Feb 1, 2012. Billy has served successfully in the West Ark Area Council in Ft. Smith, AR, Northwest Suburbun Council in Mount Prospect, IL, Des Plaines Valley Council in Lagrange, IL, Scout Executive in Dubuque, IA, and most recently as the Assistant Scout Executive in the Pony Express Council in St. Joseph, MO. Billy has extensive experience in developing new outdoor programs and managing camp properties in the BSA. Billy and his wife Melissa have 4 grown children Justin, Jessica, Matthew and Margaret, ages 23, 25, 27 & 29 out on their own, and one grandson Bentley, age 19 months living with them. Please help me in welcoming Billy & Melissa and their family to the Longs Peak Council.
New Longs Peak Council Senior District Executive:
Gary Shoemaker, a 22 year experienced BSA professional, has agreed to serve as our new Senior District Executive in Tri-Trails and High Plains districts, effective Jan. 17, 2012. Gary has served as District Executive in the Heart of America Council in Kansas City, MO, Senior District Executive in Samoset Council in Wausau, WI and as Senior District Executive in Quivira Council in Wichita, KS. Gary was promoted to District Director in the Coronado Area Council in Salina, KS and most recently served as the council's Program Director. Gary and his wife Colleen have a 13 year old son, Graham, who is a Life Scout and working on Eagle. Please help me in welcoming Gary and Colleen and their family to the Longs Peak Council.
Leslie Thibodeaux promoted to Director of Program at Northern Tier High Adventure Base:
Leslie Thibodeaux, our Camping and Operations Director who served in the council for over 10 years, was recently promoted to Director of Program at Northern Tier High Adventure Base in Ely, Minnesota. Leslie started her career in 2001 as a District Executive in Cheyenne and Laramie, WY serving the Frontier and High Altitude districts. She was promoted in 2003 to Camping Director, where she has served successfully for the past eight years. We wish her, her husband Cade and their daughter Tracy all the best in their new endeavors.
Andrew Olsen promoted to Development Director in Anchorage, Alaska:
Andrew Olsen, who served as Senior District Executive in Tri-Trails and High Plains districts was recently promoted to Development Director in Anchorage, Alaska. Andrew served in the Longs Peak council for 5 years serving as District Executive in High Plains District before moving to Scottsbluff to serve as our Senior District Executive. We wish him, his wife Brianna and baby Jessica all the best in their new endeavors.
