ScoutMail Policies
General Guidelines
Scoutmail must be directly related to Scouting in our Council/Districts
Send information most recipients would want to know about, and target the area / program level.
Use sparingly for non-trivial information.
Ask council webmaster if you're not sure about the kinds of things we should send.
Council Approval (District webmasters - ask your DE when in doubt)
Verify information / dates are correct before sending.
Check your email to see if someone else has already sent the info.
Keep messages short - reference packet, web page or mailings for details.
Follow YP (first name + last initial only, no contact info).
Follow member privacy policies (permission for contact info).
Do not send repeated reminders about the same event (one early/initially and one before deadline OK).
Avoid giving the impression of spam.
Use normal sentence capitalization (ALL CAPS is rejected by some spam filters).
