* General Guidelines
  • Scoutmail must be directly related to Scouting in our Council/Districts
  • Send information most recipients would want to know about, and target the area / program level.
  • Use sparingly for non-trivial information.
  • Ask council webmaster if you're not sure about the kinds of things we should send.
  • Council Approval (District webmasters - ask your DE when in doubt)
  • Verify information / dates are correct before sending.
  • Check your email to see if someone else has already sent the info.
  • Keep messages short - reference packet, web page or mailings for details.
  • Follow YP (first name + last initial only, no contact info).
  • Follow member privacy policies (permission for contact info).
  • Do not send repeated reminders about the same event (one early/initially and one before deadline OK).
  • Avoid giving the impression of spam.
  • Use normal sentence capitalization (ALL CAPS is rejected by some spam filters).
