"Use Your WB Beads to Get A Trip to Philmont This Fall"
Philmont Leadership Challenge
We would like to get a Longs Peak Council Contingent ** together to go down and share the experience of the Philmont Leadership Challenge.
What Is the Philmont Leadership Challenge?
Adults learn to internalize and practice their leadership skills in this
action-packed backcountry conference. The course hones the skills
taught in Wood Badge for the 21st Century in an outdoor experiential
learning environment. PLC underscores the values of Scouting, teamwork,
and promotes the concepts of servant leadership. The course is open to
Scouters in all programs.
(How is it related to Wood Badge, NYLT and NAYLE?)
What Can I Expect?
PLC is a very special experience. You will camp in a team setting that enables participants to
use their leadership skills to resolve challenging situations.
What Will I Take Home From PLC?
- The skill, ability, and motivation to be a dynamic and effective leader taught through
advanced, practical applications of Wood Badge skills.
- Innovative techniques to deliver Wood Badge skills to units and councils.
- Nationwide resources including new ideas and contacts that can only be gained through a
program of this type.
Who Can Come?
The course is open to adults who have completed Wood Badge for the 21st Century.
Participants must meet Philmont's backcountry physical standards as specified in the BSA
Health and Medical Record, Parts A, B, C, and D.
When Is It?
The 2013 course will be held at Philmont Scout Ranch on September 15-21.
How Much Does It Cost?
The cost is $495.
How Do I Register?
To register go to www.myscouting.org, and click on the Events Registration Tab.
How Can I Get More Information?

Please help us promote this in the Longs Peak Council:
- PLC Flyer for the Longs Peak Council Contingent
- Bring Your Family - Philmont Family Programs Flyer
Note - although family members would have a great time in this program, they won't see the PLC participant until our course concludes as we'll be off in a different part of Philmont.
You are not confirmed for the course until you are registered and have paid all the fees (they can be paid in installments online).
The course usually fills up completely, so sign up soon!
Here is a Slide show of the first PLC course. (2008)
